Malaysia has one of the healthiest mobile esports ecosystems in Southeast Asia, and it is easy to lose track of how many separate competitions are actually running at any moment. This page is the map: which leagues exist, how they connect, and where the Malaysian teams sit in each.

The three ladders that matter

Mobile Legends: MPL Malaysia and the M-Series

MPL Malaysia is the longest-running professional league in the country and the clearest pathway to a world title. Regular seasons run twice a year, the top teams advance to regional play, and the best of those qualify for the M-Series world championship — the game’s biggest event. For a Malaysian player, this is the most realistic route from ranked ladder to professional contract.

PUBG Mobile: PMNC, PMPL and beyond

The PUBG Mobile ladder runs from the national championship through the Southeast Asian league and up to the global series. Malaysia runs its own national championship feeder, and Malaysian organisations have historically placed well at the regional level. What makes this ladder unusual is that it rewards consistency across a season rather than single tournament brilliance.

Free Fire: the Garena circuit

Garena’s competitive structure is the youngest of the three but the fastest growing, largely because the player base it draws from is the largest. Prize pools are smaller than MLBB’s, but the barrier to entry is lower, which means more Malaysian teams get real tournament reps.

How to actually watch

Every one of these circuits streams on official YouTube and Facebook channels, in Malay and English for the Malaysian fixtures. The easiest way to follow is to subscribe to the league channels directly rather than relying on highlights — replays of full series are where you actually learn draft decisions and rotations.

What we cover

We report on results, roster changes and patch impact on the meta — the three things that actually change how a tournament plays out. We do not publish transfer rumours without a source, and we do not run sponsored coverage disguised as analysis.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I watch MPL Malaysia in English?

MPL Malaysia streams on its official YouTube and Facebook channels with both Malay and English commentary. English broadcasts are usually on the main channel, with Malay commentary often on a separate stream or channel.

How do Malaysian players get into a professional team?

Through rank first and visibility second. Mythical Glory in MLBB or Conqueror in PUBG Mobile gets you scouted from leaderboards; consistent tournament performance in amateur cups gets you noticed faster. Open qualifiers for the national circuits are published before each season.

Which Malaysian teams should I follow?

Follow the teams currently holding MPL Malaysia and PMNC slots rather than historical names — roster turnover in mobile esports is high and legacy branding outlives the rosters that earned it. Our coverage tracks the current standings each season.
