About this game
Water Sort looks like the gentlest game in the catalogue and quietly turns out to be one of the sharpest. Six glass tubes stand on screen: four filled with four layers each of four different colours, two empty. Tap a tube to lift it, tap another to pour, and the top run of same-coloured liquid transfers across. The goal is to finish with every tube either empty or holding four layers of one colour.
The rules are two sentences long, but the ordering trap is real: pour greedily early on and you will fuse colours into arrangements that block every useful move ten steps later. The undo is your move counter restarting, so every fresh attempt teaches you which early pour caused the late mess.
Strong players follow one habit: keep at least one tube empty as long as possible, and pour only when the destination tube is either empty or topped by the same colour. When you must break that rule, do it for the colour that has the most layers still scattered. The whole puzzle is solvable in six to twelve moves with clean play, which makes beating your own record genuinely satisfying.
Layouts reshuffle every restart, so no two sessions are the same. It runs offline, weighs almost nothing, and pairs perfectly with Lights Out when you want to rotate between two quiet puzzles.
Frequently asked questions
Is every starting layout solvable?
Yes. Layouts are shuffled full sets of four colours, and any arrangement of this size has a guaranteed solution.
What happens when I pour onto a full tube?
The game blocks the move with a short message instead of letting you waste a turn.
How many moves is a good score?
Clean play lands between six and twelve moves. Anything under eight is excellent.
Does the difficulty increase?
The tube count and colours stay fixed, so the challenge is improving your own move count.
