About this game
Ghost Hunt flips the horror formula: you are not the victim, you are the exterminator. Armed with nothing but an old oil lamp, you sweep a haunted manor where spirits only freeze while caught in your beam. The core loop is beautifully simple — swing the light, pin the ghosts, hold them long enough to charge a banish, and release before the beam drains or something slips up behind you.
The ghosts are characterful rather than scary. Wisps drift in lazy sine waves, Shades dart when the beam edges near them, and the tall Watcher simply stands at the edge of your light circle, waiting for you to look away. Each type demands a different technique: sweep widely for wisps, bait-and-punish shades, and never stop moving when the Watcher is on the board.
The lamp is the entire resource system. Its beam has limited reach, its charge drains while pinning and refills when idle, and the manor’s rooms grow darker as waves progress, shrinking your effective circle of safety. Banishing several ghosts in one continuous hold chains a combo multiplier, so the temptation to over-extend the beam is constant and dangerous.
Waves escalate through the manor’s rooms — hall, library, attic — with the final attic wave earning a local best score on the wall. It is the most atmospheric game in the action category, spooky enough to raise goosebumps and gentle enough to play with the lights actually off.
Frequently asked questions
How do I banish a ghost?
Pin it inside the lamp beam and hold until the banish meter fills, then it dissolves into light.
What are the different ghost types?
Three: drifting Wisps, darting Shades and the motionless Watcher who moves only when unobserved.
Does the lamp run out?
Its charge drains while pinning and refills when idle — managing that rhythm is the whole game.
Is it actually scary?
It is atmospheric rather than frightening — spooky visuals, no jump scares, no gore.
