Hold anywhere to thrust upward, release to fall. Spacebar works on desktop.

How to play

  1. Feather the thrust โ€” short taps beat a clamped thumb.
  2. Aim for the middle third of every gate; the edges punish drift.
  3. Start adjusting for the next gate the moment you clear the current one.
  4. Gates speed up over distance, so tighten your taps late in a run.
  5. Passing gates adds bonus distance โ€” chain them for big scores.

About this game

Jetpack Journey strips flying down to a single decision: thrust or fall. Hold anywhere on the screen and the pilot fires his jetpack upward; release and gravity does the rest. The course ahead is a series of gates โ€” vertical gaps between grey pillars โ€” and your score is simply the distance you cover before one of them clips you.

The physics have real weight. Thrust accelerates you upward smoothly, gravity pulls you down smoothly, and the trick to clean flying is feathering: short taps rather than a clamped thumb. Beginners clamp and ping-pong between ceiling and floor; intermediate players learn that the middle third of every gate is the safest corridor and the straightest line between gates is almost always the right one.

Speed rises gently as the distance builds, so a run starts meditative and ends frantic. Gates also drift through a soft sky with parallax clouds, which makes long runs feel like travelling rather than treading water. Distance is scored in metres, your best is saved locally, and every ten-gate milestone adds a satisfying bonus to the counter.

It is an ideal one-thumb commute game. There is nothing to configure, nothing to buy and no connection needed after the page loads โ€” just you, a jetpack and an endless corridor of gaps.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I keep hitting the ceiling?

You are holding thrust too long. Try tap-tap-tap rhythms instead of one long hold, and aim to hover near the centre.

Does the game get faster?

Yes, speed rises gradually with distance. Early runs feel calm; late runs demand tighter control.

What counts as a crash?

Touching a pillar or flying past the top or bottom of the screen ends the run.

Is there any way to pause?

Yes โ€” the pause button in the header freezes the flight and resumes exactly where you left off.
